“W” sign: Musician Michael Burroughs launches coronavirus campaign with song
A music campaign that encourages the Melvanians to do the right thing to stop the spread of the coronavirus is backed by the chief health officer.
This song, created by jingle writer and brand music director of melody Michael Burroughs, Victorian chiefAs much as possible, stay home and wear a mask because it is “what we need to do”.
Burroughs also created a video showing people doing a “W” sign to match the lyrics and highlight it. We are all together..
3AW’s morning presenter, Neil Mitchell, stepped behind the campaign after the musician responded to the call on his radio show, inviting the audience to be aware of their contribution.
“I think the people of the Victorian era are heading from the untidy anger of the government that put us in the second wave,” Mitchell said.
“I think we’re now embracing it and focusing on what we have to do to sort it out-it’s up to us.”
“The idea is ourselves and we are fighting this together.”
Burrows, who also writes jingles for Brand 13 Cabsand Chemist Warehouse, said he wrote earthworms while riding a bike.
“(Neil) was talking about the word “must go”. “I found a way to put it together,” that’s what we need to do,” he said.
Many of his shows were canceled as the musician just released a single “Please Don Cry” with the song-writing legend Neil Finn at the beginning of the pandemic.
“It’s really our time for Australians to step up and work together. I feel this is better than myself,” he said.
“I feel as a father, as an entrepreneur, for two boys, as an artist.”
