Anchorage (AP)—116 new COVID-19 cases were reported across Alaska Sunday. This is the largest daily increase in the state so far.
Anchorage Daily News reported that there was one new hospitalization in Alaska and no new deaths were reported.
The state’s Department of Health and Human Services said 93 new cases involved Alaskan residents and 23 non-residents.
The new case reported on Sunday broke previous records set the day before the state reported 77 cases.
The reason for the increase on Sunday was not immediately clear. It was unclear whether the patient was symptomatic at the time of the examination or how ill he was.
In Alaska, 1,774 cases of COVID-19 have been reported throughout the state, with 847 active.
Since March, the virus has resulted in 86 hospitalizations and 17 deaths.
