New York (CBSNewYork) — Dogs are humanizing healthcare in Mount Sinai Hospital.. Through the “foot and play” program, they help young patients deal with needles and pain.
Vanessa Murdock of CBS2 proved Wednesday that their relationship was more important than ever in the past few months.
High five and pure happiness were captured by the camera. Whenever 11-year-old Jason Amaya meets a “professor,” everything else is fine.
“He always makes me think positively and not negatively,” Jason said.

The two don’t usually meet in Central Park, but they meet in the Clavis Children’s Hospital on Mount Sinai, where Jason collects blood every week. He lives with ITP and needs to monitor his platelet count.

“I was surprised at how well it worked,” Lord said.
The hospital used robots to carry the adorable face of the professor to an isolated patient, a child who could not even see his brother.
“The dogs on the premises have brought great standards of comfort and contact,” Lord said.

“I can see my best buddies on the screen and he can still put a smile on my face,” he said.
During the pandemic, the professor and his colleagues worked harder than ever, working not only with the children, but also with the frontline health care workers.
