Coronavirus Victoria: Nestlé confirms positive case, plant closed for thorough cleaning
Nestlé’s factory north of Melbourne was closed after staff tested positive for coronavirus.
The grounds of food giant Campbell Field are thoroughly cleaned and all staff are ordered to quarantine themselves at home.
Workers who are unable to work from home will be on vacation until the Hume Highway factory reopens.
Nestlé spokesperson Margaret Stewart said the company has started tracking contacts in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services.
She also said that no one met the federal government’s Close Contact Criteria guidelines on the ground.
“In recent months, we have taken some steps to keep our employees and their families safe, keeping our field activities at a social distance of 2 meters, improving cleaning and hygiene. Ms. Stuart said.
“Wearing a mask at the factory is compulsory for several weeks, and masks are provided to direct families.
“In line with our commitment, each and every one of us will continue to strictly adhere to all government-recommended measures to keep our colleagues, business partners and consumers safe.”
Victorian record 238 new virus The incident occurred Wednesday, killing three more people in the last 48 hours and bringing the state’s death toll to 27.
Of the Wednesday cases, 29 were related to the containment that occurred and 209 were under investigation.
Chancellor Daniel Andrews confirmed that 105 Victorians were hospitalized and 27 received intensive care.
