Any updates on back-to-school immunizations? Tarrant County Public Health plans to host low-cost clinics

Add vaccines to your back-to-school list.

Beginning July 31, Tarrant County Public Health will provide the following services: Required and Recommended Vaccines low cost county wide. Families without health insurance and low-income families can also receive assistance.

Required vaccinations

of Texas Department of Health and Human Services List Students are required to have several vaccines to attend school. Each vaccine is given at a different age. Immunizations are:

• Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis
• polio
• Measles, mumps, rubella
• Hepatitis B
• Chickenpox
• Meningococcus
• Hepatitis A

Immunizations for children under 18 are $8 and adults 19 and over are $15. Tarrant County Public Health spokeswoman Edrea Oh said participants were not always included in the state system, so they had to bring their vaccination records. Families will also be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“We don’t turn anyone away because they can’t pay. Come even if you can’t pay,” she said.

These centers also accept Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance programs and accept cash payments only.

Back-to-school vaccination events, which began in 1991, have vaccinated 6,800 people in 2021 and 8,100 people in 2022.

Fort Worth resident Ruby Martinez plans to take her daughter Kristel, who will be in first grade in August, to her GP’s office for vaccinations.

She said in Spanish that she vaccinated her two children to prevent illness and keep their immune systems strong.

Thirteen-year-old Hayden Sloan, a family visitor to Fort Worth, knows the importance of vaccination, even though he fears being poked.

“I don’t even like needles, but I have to,” said Mr. Sloan, who lives in Missouri. “If I don’t receive this, I won’t be able to go to school.”

Schools across the state expect students to: show proof of vaccinationaccording to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

State law allows parents and guardians to opt out of mandatory vaccinations. specific situationsuch as medical exemptions and religious beliefs.

Back-to-school vaccination

The Tarrant County Public Health Department will hold a vaccination clinic starting July 31st. Here are the dates and locations:

• 31st July – 4th August and 7th – 11th August 9am – 6pm. August 5 and August 12 from 9am to 2pm at Diamond Hill Jarvis High School (1411 Maydell St.) and Arlington ISD Athletic Center (1001 E Division St.) in Arlington. Closed on August 8th and Sundays.
• August 4, 9am-1pm at 5301 Campus Drive, Tarrant County University South Campus. registration required
• August 5, 9am-1pm, Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center, Forest Hill, 6901 Wichita Street.
• August 14-18 9am-6pm and August 19 9am-2pm at Ridgemar Mall (1888 Green Oaks Blvd.) and Southwest Public Health Center (6551) It will be held at the food court entrance on Granbury Road.
• August 21-25 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and August 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the food court entrance at 1888 Green Oaks Blvd. At the Watauga Public Health Center, 6601 Wutauga Road, Suite 122, Watauga.
