COVID-19 hospitalization hits new highs, Burley County reports first death | Kyodo Newswire PR Wire Bismarck
Burleigh County recorded its first death associated with COVID-19 on Sunday, the number of people hospitalized for the disease reached a new high that day, state health officials said.
According to the North Dakota Department of Health, 45 people are currently hospitalized for this condition in the state. This is two more than the previous high of 43 reported on July 13. In total, 302 North Dakotans are hospitalized for this disease.
A man in his 80s with an underlying condition was listed as the first person in Burley County to die of the disease. The state’s second dead, a man in Benson County in his 30s with underlying illness, was reported on Sunday. The two deaths reported on Sunday bring the state total to 92.
16 new cases were reported in Burleigh County, home of Bismarck, with 175 more active cases than any other county in the state. 26 new cases were reported in Fargo’s hometown of Cass County, reaching a total of 163 active cases. Morton County, home of Mandan, has 48 active cases after adding 12 on Sunday.
Grand Forks County reported 25 new cases on Sunday. Williams County added 9 people, 7 Walsh, 3 wards, Pemvina and 2 Richlands in Burke, Cavalier, Emmons, Macintosh, Mackenzie, McLean, Mountrail, Sue, Steel, Townner, Trail counties. Added one new case each.
