Edmonton (660 News) — Over 1,000 cases of active COVID-19 cases in Alberta have surged, with 368 virus-positive over the weekend.
There are 1,109 active cases in the state. Of these, 86 are hospitalized and 17 are in the intensive care unit.
On Friday, the state recorded 165 new cases, 106 confirmed on Saturday and 97 confirmed on Sunday.
The death toll in Alberta is now 170, with three more dead due to viral complications.
According to the Alberta Department of Health, deaths include men in the 90’s and women in the 90’s associated with outbreaks in Generations Calgary, and men in the 70’s associated with the outbreak of the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton.
Calgary Zone has a number of 553 and most active cases in the state.

Another section of Calgary was added to the state watch list. The upper northeastern region of Calgary currently has 61 active cases. This area will join the Calgary Center and Calgary Elbow, which were added to the watchlist last week.
Currently, the state has 12 areas that are monitored by health authorities.
As of Monday, 590,502 COVID-19 tests were completed and 8,308 Alberta recovered.
