Lawson Health researchers investigate health of health workers during a pandemic-London
The Lawson Health Research Institute team requires Canadian health professionals to participate in moral distress and psychological health research COVID-19 (new coronavirus infectious disease) (# If there is no character limit, add brackets when first appearing Pandemic.
They are looking for 500 participants to complete a series of surveys over a period of 18 months with the goal of better understanding the impact of a pandemic on healthcare workers.
Researchers hope that the survey will answer questions about moral ethics dilemmas and depression, PTSD, and symptoms of general anxiety and burnout.
“Healthcare workers face unprecedented demands as a result of pandemics, and many may be working under extreme physical and psychological stress,” said the McDonald’s Franklin Surgical Stress Injury Research Center Director. And Dr. Don Richardson of Dr. Lawson said.
The team expects the results to be used to foster wellness at the beginning of future pandemics.

“It’s necessary to provide a voice to healthcare professionals during this outbreak,” says Dr. Richardson.
“Medical professionals may face difficult moral ethical decisions, such as patient care and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE), which can lead to moral distress.”
This project is affiliated with the Center of Excellence on PTSD and related mental health conditions.
