The first possible case of West Nile virus was reported in PA. WTAJ
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the first case of a West Nile virus (WNV) in 2020 in Pennsylvania was found among residents of Potter County.
Samples are currently being sent to CDC for confirmation.
The department strongly recommends that all Pennsylvanians minimize mosquito exposure. Although they can bite at any time of the day, mosquitoes that infect WNV are most active at dawn and dusk.
“Pennsylvanians encourage outdoor enjoyment, especially during the COVID-19 epidemic, but they also want to take proper precautions against mosquitoes outdoors,” said Health Secretary Rachel Levine.
