Another viral death in a health facility in Montana
Helena, Mon. (AP) — Montana has confirmed another 97 COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths in connection with an outbreak at a memory care facility in Billings, state officials said Thursday.
A man in his 70s died Wednesday at a Canyon Creek memory care facility, according to health officials in Yellowstone County.
“The harsh reality of increasing deaths at this elderly care facility is disastrous, but compared to all families who have died of this tragic illness, we have no pain.”
When the outbreak was discovered in late June, the facility had 59 inhabitants. The 14 deaths occurred between July 6 and 17 days.
COVID-19 in Montana has resulted in a total of 43 deaths from complications, with nearly half of the deaths associated with long-term care facilities. State officials said 54 people were hospitalized.
