The County of Los Angeles reported one of the lowest recent days of new coronavirus cases on Friday, but the drop was due to delays in test results from the state, clearing the backlog and increasing the number. It is likely to be in the next few days.

The county reported 1,949 new cases, adding a total of more than 2,000 cases from the past week’s daily reports. The City of Long Beach announced 143 new cases on Friday and Pasadena added 35. New cases have raised the county-wide total from the global epidemic to 168,935.

The county public health department also reported 44 deaths from COVID-19, one of these deaths being reported by Pasadena on Thursday. Pasadena and Long Beach have their own medical departments.

New deaths have increased to 4,300 throughout the county.

In addition, Friday’s statistics show that the number of cases of coronavirus confirmed in local hospitals decreased to 1,928.
