Coronavirus Update, July 25: Data Delay, State Fixed Mortality Error

Daily data updates were delayed “due to technical issues” The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said Saturday afternoon.
There were 437 daily cases recorded, for a total of 76,978. There were 14 deaths recorded each day, 8 of which were due to confirmation of death certificate data.
When the data was updated after 6 pm, the state noticed that there was a “manual data entry error” and the cumulative mortality decreased by 16. Currently, the total number of deaths is 6,149.
The state said the error arose during an investigation into a local incident that “misleadingly identified those who were not mistaken as deceased.” The state says reviews are being conducted to ensure data quality and death reporting.
The latest recovery data is for Friday 24 July. This shows that 57,502 people have recovered from the virus. The state updates this data every Saturday. Recovery is counted as a person 30 days after the onset of symptoms.
Hospitalization is changing. As of July 24, there are 481 COVID-19 patients in a Michigan hospital, 113 using ventilators, and 197 receiving emergency care.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 594 cases of COVID-19 daily, for a total of 76 cases and 541 cases.
The death toll has increased by three. There are currently 6,151 coronavirus-related deaths throughout the state.

- Do not touch eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or upper sleeve.
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- If you are ill, stay at home and avoid contact with others.
- Keep at least 6 feet from others in public areas.
