Live Update: Oregon Reports 408 New Coronavirus Cases

Update (1:42 pm PT) — Oregon reported an estimated 408 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths on Saturday. This has brought the number of cases in the state to 16,492 and the death toll to 286. Health officials believe that the true number of infections is much higher than the reported number of cases.

The announcement reports that after Friday’s tough milestone, state health officials have killed nine more than any other day since the beginning of the pandemic in Oregon.

In Umatilla County, most cases reported on Saturday were reported in any of the 80 states.

Death announced on Saturday,

A 66-year-old man from Martonoma County. He tested positive on 14 June and died on 14 July. He had an underlying illness.

An 88 year old man from Martonoma County. He tested positive on 10 July and died on 21 July. He had an underlying illness.

An 87-year-old man from Martonoma County had a positive reaction on 7 July and died on 17 July.

An 85-year-old man from Umatilla County tested positive on 14 July and died on 24 July.

Infectious diseases are increasing in Clark County, Washington, but no new deaths

Officials in Clark County, Washington, reported 27 new positive COVID-19 results on Friday, with no new deaths. As a result, 1,632 people have been found to be infected with coronaviruses in Clark County, and 37 have died.

The latest available data from the Washington Department of Health show that 50,824 people were diagnosed with coronavirus and 1,495 died in the state. As of Thursday night, COVID-19 has led to 5,301 hospitalizations in Washington.

Douglas County outbreak related to blueberry farm

The outbreak of COVID-19, which began a month ago in Douglas County, has become so large that the Oregon Department of Health has released details. According to the Orisgon Health Department, an outbreak investigation at Norris Blueberry Farms began on June 25, but the state counted a number of cases that did not reveal an outbreak.

However, after investigating employees, their household members and other close contacts, agencies are now linking 22 cases to workplace outbreaks. This is about a quarter of the coronavirus cases associated with Douglas County since the beginning of the pandemic.

Paul Norris, who owns a Norris farm, told a news review newspaper that he tests workers regularly throughout the season. He also says he has paid 32 workers to stay at the motel for two weeks, some positive for the COVID-19 test and some have not yet returned.

Efforts to resume rollback in Washington and Oregon

Effective Friday in Oregon:

Children over the age of 5 should wear face coverings if they cannot keep distance at indoor gatherings or outdoors. This requirement will be applied this fall to schools for face-to-face students, with state education authorities making masks available through the school.

Indoor facilities such as churches and businesses can accommodate 250 to 100 people at once.

All bars and restaurants throughout the state must be closed by 10 PM. Some counties were open until midnight.

People must wear face coverings while exercising in the gym or other fitness center.

In Washington, an enlargement order covering the entire state will come into effect on Saturday. People should wear face covers in all common spaces, including elevators, corridors, and shared spaces in group housing settings such as apartment buildings, hotels and nursing homes.

Beginning Thursday, July 30, Washington will impose new restrictions on restaurants and bars, limiting the number of people who can sit together indoors and requiring indoor meals to come from the same household. The bar is closed for indoor services but outdoor services can continue. Alcoholic service in the restaurant must be closed by 10 PM. The restaurant must be closed to games and social areas such as pool tables and dartboards.

Also, starting Thursday, Washington imposes restrictions on staffed indoor spaces such as fitness centers, gyms, pools, ice rinks, and tennis facilities. The details will vary depending on the location and the stage of reinstatement achieved by each community, but due to the generally limited size of the rally, Jim should be run below capacity.

Beginning August 6th in Washington, weddings and funerals will be limited in size to 20% of the venue capacity or 30 people, whichever is less. Weddings are still allowed, but reception is prohibited.
