CDV guidelines say COVID-19 patients are free of infection after 10 days
Patients who test positive for COVID-19 with mild to moderate symptoms need not be negative before leaving quarantine, according to new Centers for Disease Control guidelines. According to the new guidelines, after about 10 days, the patient is no longer infectious. This revelation was supported by increasing evidence from multiple studies, CDC Revise the guidelines.
Says the CDC, “For most people with the COVID-19 illness, isolation and precautions are generally able to relieve fever 10 days after onset for at least 24 hours, do not use antipyretics, and improve other symptoms.”
The revised guidelines state that patients with more severe symptoms will have an isolation period of 20 days. Also, the usual 10-day isolation period does not apply to patients with compromised immune systems or other history of respiratory illness/weakness.

For those with more severe cases of COVID-19, “People with more severe to severe illness or severe immunodeficiency may remain infectious within 20 days of the onset of symptoms.”
