State health officials reported more than 1,600 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with a positive rate of 9%. An additional seven deaths were reported on Sunday, bringing the coronavirus death toll to 1,785 in North Carolina. Currently, 1,170 people are hospitalized. The latest numbers will be announced around noon on Monday.
President Donald Trump will visit the Innovation Center of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies in Morrisville on Monday afternoon. Mr Trump’s visit has been his public event in North Carolina since the eve of the March 3 presidential primaries.
Another chance for students to enroll in the Wake County Virtual Academy begins on Monday. Parents can enroll their children in the Virtual Academy Monday through Wednesday. Students in Hawk County can enroll in the Virtual Academy until 6 PM Monday. Franklin County schools will hold an emergency meeting at 5:30 pm. Halifax County school leaders recommend distance learning for their students during the first nine weeks.

Health authorities in North Carolina have reported a high prevalence of 1,621 cases of COVID-19, totaling 112,713.
Eighty-five percent of the reporting hospitals are currently hospitalized with 1,170 COVID-19 cases from North Carolina. It’s been up two from Saturday.

An additional seven people were killed by the virus, bringing the total to 1,785 in the state.
The test positive rate is currently 9%. It has fluctuated 8-10% over the last few weeks.
Across the state, 551 ICU beds and 6,077 inpatient hospital beds are empty.
