Dallas County Reports Two New COVID-19 Deaths and 426 New Cases on Monday – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Dallas County reported another two COVID-19-related deaths on Monday and 426 newly confirmed infections.
The latest two victims of this virus are:
- A Balc Springs man in his 50s, who had an underlying illness, had been infected with the virus in a hospital ICU.
- A Dallas man in his 60s who had no underlying illness and had the virus in an ICU in a hospital.
Judge Clay Jenkins of Dallas County said Monday’s low numbers were reported due to a flaw in the state’s reporting system, resulting in about 1,300 cases reported on Saturday after four days of disapproval. It warns that there is a possibility. Still, Jenkins was “more and more optimistic” that mask use and unnecessary travel delays were affecting flattening the number of new cases in the county.
“Today’s numbers have been lower than those since June 25. The county is currently accumulating 47,239 cases of the virus since testing began in March. There are 607 deaths from the virus in the county, which is now the third leading cause of death in the counties behind heart and cancer, according to Dr. Philip Huang, director of health and social welfare in Dallas county. Since March 20, the county has averaged 4.7 deaths per day since the date of the first reported COVID-19-related death in Dallas county.
According to the Texas Department of Health, an estimated 28,260 people (up to Sunday) have recovered from the virus and an estimated 18,372 known patients are fighting the infection in the county. This number will be updated on Monday afternoon.
Also on Monday, Jenkins said in a statement that more than 1,450 children under the age of 18 were diagnosed with the virus in the first three weeks of July. During the same period, 29 children were hospitalized, including four in the ICU.
Of the cases requiring hospitalization, two-thirds of COVID-19 patients are younger than 65 years, and about half do not have a high-risk chronic health condition. Diabetes is a potentially high-risk health condition reported in about one-third of all patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
Over the course of several weeks, the county reported that more than one-third of COVID-19-related deaths were residents of long-term care facilities.
