The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Digital Pakistan, Tania Aidrus, announced on Wednesday that she had tendered her resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan out of “greater public interest” over his “citizenship” status.

“Criticism leveled at the state for my status as a citizen obscures the goal of digital Pakistan,” Aidrus tweeted with his resignation letter to the prime minister.

She added that she tendered her resignation in “the best public interest” and that she will continue to serve the country and the Prime Minister’s vision to the “best” of her ability.

Earlier this month, the government released details of the holdings and nationalities of special assistants and advisers to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

His Canadian citizenship has since been the subject of debate in political circles, and opposition lawmakers have questioned the presence of dual citizenship in the federal cabinet.

According to information made available to the public on the Cabinet Division website, four Special Assistants to the Prime Minister hold dual citizenship, including Nadeem Babar (US), Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari (UK), Shahzad Qasim (United States) and Tania Aidrus (Canada). .

According to details shared by Tania Aidrus, she owns four real estate properties held outside of Pakistan – two in the US and one each in the UK and Singapore – which when converted to Pakistani rupees have a value of 452, 69 million rupees. Properties in Singapore and the United States are under mortgage.

The Prime Minister’s assistant has no property in Pakistan.

She invested in venture capital valued at Rs 12.51 million and reported remittances from a foreign account to Pakistan valued at $ 95,790.

Aidrus has a bank balance on various accounts both in Pakistan and abroad worth 34.39 million rupees, while her husband has cash in the bank worth 9.29 million rupees on accounts abroad.

She owns a car, Toyota Fortuner, and jewelry worth Rs 5million, according to the documents.

She also has a permanent residence in Singapore.
