Toxoplasmosis exposure warning issued for wildlife dinner at Mount Kisco in Westchester County
MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (WABC) — The Westchester County Health Department has issued an emergency health alert.
The department is investigating at least two cases of toxoplasmosis, a disease caused by a parasite that can cause birth defects and miscarriages.
Two people became ill after going to a game dinner at the Moses Taylor Jr. American Legion in Mount Kisco.
The dinner was held on January 19th and 20th.
Gibier refers to game meat such as deer and wild boar.
The health department urges anyone who attends such dinners and eats food or leftovers to contact their doctor immediately.
People who are pregnant, have a weakened immune system, have vision changes or other symptoms are urged to call 914-813-5180 during business hours or 914-813-5000 after hours. ing.
