Michigan reports first childhood flu death of the season
Michigan has confirmed its first pediatric influenza death of the season, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday.
The health department did not disclose the child's place of residence or age. According to police, the child was infected with influenza A (H1N1).
“These are tragedies that no family should ever have to endure,” State Department Medical Director Natasha Baghdasaryan said in a statement, urging parents of children six months and older to get the flu vaccine and urging adults to get the flu vaccine as well. He urged people to get vaccinated. Photography is also done once a year.
The department says people can still get vaccinated during the current flu season.

Vaccines against measles are available in a two-part series that also protects against mumps and rubella. Approximately 68% of children aged 19 to 36 months had received one vaccination by February. That rate is down from 75% in January 2019, according to data from the Michigan Care Improvement Registry.
