Health officials say measles infection has been confirmed in a visitor who traveled to Los Angeles County.
LOS ANGELES (CNS) — case of measles Officials announced Saturday that a non-Los Angeles County resident who traveled within the county over the weekend was confirmed infected.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health was notified of this matter by the California Department of Public Health. The infected person had traveled to Los Angeles County from Saturday, March 30th to Sunday, April 1st.
According to health authorities, people who were in the following locations on the following dates and times may be at risk of developing measles within 21 days of exposure:
Saturday, March 30, 2024:
— Sheraton Gateway Hotel Gym, 6101 W. Century Blvd. (5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.);
— Denny's, 5535 W. Century Blvd. (hours not yet set);
— Universal Studios, 100 Universal City Plaza.
— Buca di Beppo, 1000 Universal Studios Blvd. (approximately noon);
— Cletus Chicken Shack at Universal Studies, 100 Universal City Plaza (approximately 4 p.m.).
— Lard Lad Donuts and EC Food Truck at 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal Studios (hours TBA).
— Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, 445 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills (hours TBA).
— Sheraton Gateway Hotel, 6101 W. Century Blvd.
Sunday, March 31, 2024:
— Sheraton Gateway Hotel Gym, 6101 W. Century Blvd. (5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.);
— Jack in the Box, 1127 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood (approximately 11 a.m.).
— Pier Gear, 380 Santa Monica Pier #1 (times not yet determined).
— El Torito Mexican Restaurant, 13715 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey (6-8 p.m.).
— Sheraton Gateway Hotel, 6101 W. Century Blvd.
Monday, April 1, 24:

— Denny's, 5535 W. Century Blvd. (times TBA).
Additional locations where exposure may have occurred are also being investigated. People who were in the above locations were advised to check whether they have been vaccinated against measles. If you have never had measles and have not yet received the measles vaccine, you are at risk of becoming infected if you are exposed to measles.
Exposed individuals who have not had symptoms for 21 days or more are no longer at risk.
“Measles can spread through the air and through direct contact and cause serious illness even before people know they are infected,” said Los Angeles County Health Officer Dr. Muntu Davis. “Measles is highly contagious for people without immunity. Measles initially causes fever, cough, red and watery eyes, followed by a rash, but can be very serious for young children and vulnerable adults. This can lead to serious complications.”
