1 new coronavirus case, 1 recovery reported in London-Middlesex-London
One showed a positive reaction to the novel Coronavirus Local health officials reported Wednesday that one had recovered in London and in middlesex.
This update brings the total number of cases in the region to 680, of which 592 have recovered. The death toll has not changed since 17:00 on June 12th.
There are at least 31 known active cases in the region.
A new case for Wednesday was reported in London, involving people in their 20s who acquired the virus through travel, Health Unit data shows.
The individual is not listed as a healthcare professional or as associated with a senior care facility.
Health officials reported no new cases on Tuesday, reporting five on long weekends and five on Friday.
At least 628 cases have been reported in London, with 26 cases reported at Stratrochair dock and 12 cases reported at the Middlesex Center.
In other regions, 6 cases each were reported at North Middlesex and Thames Centers, and 1 case each at Lucan Biddaluf and Southwest Middlesex.
The seven-day average for the new case region is 1.85 as of Wednesday. Looking back over the 14 days until July 22, the average is 2.28.
The test positive rate in the region was 0.3% as of the week of July 19, the latest available data. That number is up from the 0.1% recorded last week.
London and Middlesex saw 133.8 cases per 100,000 as of Wednesday, while Ontario saw 265.4 cases per 100,000.
The Ontario Hockey League has announced the resumption of play plans for the 2020-21 season, which begins December 1st.
The outbreak at Victoria Hospital is still active as of Wednesday, almost two weeks after it was declared.
The outbreak was declared in the Children’s and Adolescent Mental Health Department (B8-200) of the hospital on July 24 after staff members tested positive.
A total of 27 outbreaks have been declared in the area during the pandemic.
Of those, 21 are in nursing homes and nursing homes, with 185 cases and 35 deaths.
The facility was linked to a number of cases reported in April and May, but fewer since then.
Elderly homes accounted for 8 of the at least 50 cases reported in the area since the beginning of July.
People in their twenties remain in the largest age group in 143 cases, or about 21% of cases.
People over the age of 80 accounted for 107 cases, or about 15.7 percent, the majority of which were associated with outbreaks.
Women make up 60% of all cases of London and middlesex, despite accounting for just over 51% of the region’s population.
Some of the causes of this discrepancy are cases involving healthcare professionals. Of the 155 cases associated with healthcare workers, 131 cases, or about 84.5%, are related to women.

At least 114 people had to be hospitalized for the virus during the pandemic, as the Health Unit figures indicate. 32 of them had to undergo intensive care at some point.

In rural areas, Ontario reported 86 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday..
Ontario has reported less than 100 novel coronaviruses on three consecutive days, and the fifth time last week.
There were 146 newly resolved cases and no new deaths.
This resolved 35,747 out of 39,714 resolutions statewide.
The death toll is 2,782.
Health minister Christine Elliot said 29 of the state’s 34 public health departments reported less than five new cases, while 22 reported no new cases.
Elgin and Oxford
A Southwestern Public Health Administration (SWPH) official reported Wednesday that two were positive for the novel coronavirus and two recovered.
This update brings the total number of cases in the region to 180, of which 96 have recovered. Five people have died, most recently in early July.
The increase in cases is the smallest recorded by the health unit since July 21st.
There are 79 known active cases in the area.
The number of cases in the region has skyrocketed over the past four weeks, increasing from a total of 89 on July 8 to 180 on Wednesday.
Health officials reported 12 new cases on Tuesday and 23 new cases on long weekends-Saturday 15, Sunday 6 and Monday 8. Five recoveries were also reported.
The Saturday spike is the biggest daily increase ever.

According to the Health Unit, the majority of the 42 cases currently active in the area are located in Aylmer, the most affected area of SWPH’s jurisdiction today.
Aylmer reports a case incidence of 627.3 per 100,000. Bayham, the second-highest hit region, has 297.5 cases, St. Thomas 69.4 and Woodstock 41.6.
Elsewhere, there are 18 active cases in Bayham, 9 in Tilsonburg, 6 in Norwich and 3 in St. Thomas. One case location was not available.
The cause of the occasional regional jump is not entirely clear. The health unit only said the cases came from different sources.
We decline to comment if there are any cases associated with members of the German-speaking community of the region that are seeing higher cases in neighboring jurisdictions.
As of Monday, two people in the area had emergency medical care in one of Tillsonburg and one in Woodstock.
SWPH has taken 17,577 tests so far and has 412 pending results. At least 1% of the tests are back positive.
Huron and Perth
A person from the Huron Perth Public Health Service (HPPH) reported Wednesday that one person recovered from the new coronavirus.
The total number of cases in the region remained the same at 74, of which 65 recovered. Five people have died and have not changed since the end of April.
Health officials reported two new cases on Tuesday and four new cases on Monday.
There are at least four known active cases in the area, all in Perth County.
The Health Unit states that at least five of the most recently reported cases in the region are related to Perth East and the region’s low German speaking communities. Incidents in these communities are increasing in neighboring jurisdictions.

There are no active outbreaks in this area. An outbreak at Perth East’s Nordcrest Lodge was declared late last week. One staff member tested positive.
Eight incidents have been declared in total.
At least 27 cases have been reported in Perth County and 26 cases have been reported in Stratford, including 4 deaths. The death was associated with an outbreak on Greenwood Court.
In other areas, 16 cases have been reported in Huron County and 5 cases have been reported in St Mary’s Island, including one death.
As of Wednesday, at least 11,871 people have been tested, according to the Health Unit.
Sarnia and Lambton
No new cases, deaths or recovery were reported late Tuesday by Lambton Public Health (LPH) officials.
The total number of cases in the region was only 319, of which 270 recovered.
25 people died. The number of deaths has not changed since early June.
There are at least 24 known active cases in the area. Medical unit data show that at least 16 are in rural areas, 12 of which are in Albinston, but at least 8 are in Sarnia.
The number of hospitalizations has not changed. Sarnia’s Blue Water Health has not changed since June 14 with no reported COVID-19 patients being treated as of Wednesday. There were 16 patients in the hospital waiting for test results.
The hospital says nearly 2,800 people were tested during the pandemic.
At least 58 people are hospitalized during the pandemic. The health unit says the last recorded hospitalization was at the end of May.
There are currently no outbreaks in the county. A total of 9 cases have been reported, which are associated with 105 cases and 16 deaths. The last active outbreak was resolved on July 2.
At least 18,061 test results were received late Tuesday. Local test positives remain at 1.8%.
