Mpox: Ministry of Health reports significant increase in number of infections
NEW YORK (WABC) — The New York City Department of Health announced that there has been a significant increase in reported cases of the virus, now called the “MPOX” virus, since October of last year.
The ministry also warns of a more severe disease that has surfaced in Congo and could spread here.

Ninety-four percent of local patients are gay or bisexual men.
The number of infections remains well below the peak almost two years ago.
