Ireland says rising COVID-19 replication rate is “serious concern”

Dublin (Reuters)-The increase in COVID-19 infection rates in Ireland is a “serious problem” but no significant recurrence of the infection outside of the identified clusters has been seen.

With one of the lowest rates of infection in Europe for several weeks, Ireland has skyrocketed since last Thursday, identifying groups of carnivorous infectious diseases and accommodations for asylum seekers.

Professor Philip Nolan, chair of the country’s Epidemiology Modeling Advisory Group, said at a news briefing that the reproductive rate, or the number of people infected from each positive case, had increased from 1.3 a week ago to 1.8.

“Almost two breeding numbers are a serious concern, and while we haven’t seen a significant increase in infections in our communities yet, there is a significant risk that this could happen over the next few days and weeks. Yes,” Nolan said.

Ireland reported 69 cases Thursday, with average infection rates more than doubling in recent weeks to about 50 per day. Also, five people were reported dead on Thursday after six days of death.
