Coffee drinkers have lower risk of death from sitting too long: study
(News Nation) — Coffee consumption is thought to be beneficial for health, and new research suggests that sedentary coffee drinkers may have a lower risk of death compared to non-sedentary coffee drinkers.

The analysis found that non-coffee drinkers who sat for more than six hours per day were approximately 1.6 times more likely to die from any cause than coffee drinkers who sat for less than six hours per day.
Adults who sat for six or more hours daily were more likely to be white, non-Hispanic, and have a high school or higher education, as well as have a larger waist circumference, abdominal obesity, and a higher BMI.
Coffee drinkers are more likely to be non-Hispanic, white, older, and have a high school education or higher. Only 52% of Americans drink coffee, and 48% of adults say they sit for at least six hours each day. Meanwhile, 23% of Americans say they sit for more than six hours each day but don't drink coffee.
Over 13 years of follow-up, 945 study participants died, of which 284 were due to cardiovascular disease.
The findings suggest that the association between sitting time and increased risk of death was significant only among adults who do not drink coffee, but not among coffee drinkers.
“Coffee is a complex compound and further research is needed to elucidate this miracle compound,” the researchers noted.
