What are the long-term COVID symptoms, as explained by Long-Hauler?
One group of survivors is gaining more and more attention as researchers learn about coronaviruses day by day. Long-distance COVID patients.. They report Coronavirus symptoms Bizarre and horrifying symptoms of the virus last for months: heart palpitations, tremors, tingling and even hair loss. Recent Indiana Medical College Survey.. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently published COVID-19 guidance, but even in mild cases in a young population, 2 weeks or more to recover..
Kate, 35, is a marketing director at a financial services company, COVID-19 is over 4 months.. Below, she tells Bustle what it’s like to keep coping with the disease.
Just after the school was closed in mid-March, he returned home for two and a half days after dealing with a family emergency in Florida. I was more worried than when I left. The situation felt much worse overnight. On the return trip, the airport was really crowded. Hand sanitizers were sold out and dispensers in common areas were all empty. The airport just felt sultry and terrible. I remember thinking, “Once I get my COVID, I’ll be here.”
Two days later, I started to have a fever and had digestive problems such as nausea, stomach cramps and diarrhea. The GI issue was not official, but I decided to self-quarantine Symptoms at the time.. Random symptom popups were inconsistent throughout the first week. There was a feeling of tightness in the chest for 1-2 hours, and then my throat became sore, but only for a few hours. As the week goes on, I get night sweats. I woke up and the pillows and sheets were soaked, and immediately after that I had a terrible chill.
I couldn’t because my doctor’s office said they were only testing very sick people, or people traveling from certain countries I take the test.. They told me to continue my self-quarantine until I had no fever for 72 hours. But my fever never gives up.
I tried to deal with many symptoms. About two weeks after I first felt sick, there was a day when I felt better. That day, I told my boss that I thought I would finally win. I had a video call all day long, but at night it was worse than before. After that day, I finally got a COVID test in the emergency room and it was positive. Except for that day, I was absent from work for a month and a half before I asked my boss about his short-term disability in April.
It’s been four months since then. I still have a fever of 4-5 days a week, usually 99.9-100.5. I also have brain fog and have a hard time explaining things and finding the right words. When I was talking with my daughter the other day, I couldn’t say the word “curtain”. I finally had to point it out.
Two and a half months later I’m still back at work remotely, but I need to take a nap between meetings. My enthusiasm usually comes in the afternoon, so I had to sign off a few times early in my work, but my boss allowed it. My direct team really understands, but I don’t know how others in the company feel.
I have had 3 negative tests since March and my doctor confirmed that my symptom was a post-viral response to COVID. The good news is that you can see the people who are closest to you, and you’re less tired of staying at home. But I don’t know what symptoms appear when, and to what extent they affect me. When I went to see my younger sister I had never seen since Christmas, I was so tired that I couldn’t go. I try to make a plan, but I feel like I was hit by a Mac truck.
Over the past few months, my heart rate has been constant, varying from very low values when sitting to around 40 or 50 bpm to 140 when standing up. My cardiologist says I don’t know what to do with me at this time. The hardest thing I still have to deal with is shortness of breath, which started around the fifth week. I played softball in summer and volleyball in winter. I can’t even imagine what kind of sport I can play now.
Now all we have to do is say someone “my doctor recommended this to me and helped me”.
I have tracked each issue without knowing which doctor to go because of multiple symptoms. The primary care physician sends me to an expert who says “this needs more than I handle.” An infectious disease doctor said that what I was experiencing was clearly not related to COVID, and even her most ill and immunocompromised patients would always improve after 100 days. I was very frustrated.
I met other people online and had some symptoms that never went away. My new friend Amy started a Facebook group, Long Haul COVID Fighters, in May. She was given the name because she wore a trucker’s hat when she took the test. Since then, I’ve seen others call themselves long-distance carriers. this is, Medical community.. There are now more than 8,000 sisters across the original group.
You must do all this research yourself, rely on others in cases like you, and try not to diagnose each other. But what we have to do so far is saying, “My doctor recommended this to me so it helped. Perhaps you should ask the doctor about this too.” only.
I want to cry with frustration when my workplace, friends, family, and doctors say it’s not a big deal. If you are young, you will get better in 2 weeks. There are many other things in this. I’ve heard that people are fired or fired because they haven’t recovered. I’ve heard doctors tell their patients that they can’t serve them anymore because they don’t get sick with COVID. There are many individual stories, but no aggregate data. People keep telling me I’m an outlier, but I know I’m not.
