Antidepressants may increase risk of heatstroke
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Anyone taking antidepressants needs to be extra careful during this heatwave with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees. Most antidepressants can increase your risk of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

Experts have warned people to monitor themselves for symptoms at home and seek emergency medical treatment if their symptoms worsen.
Shahid said people should contact their doctor if they faint or develop a fever of 102 degrees or higher.
Shahid said heat stroke should not be taken lightly. The best way to avoid heat stroke or heat exhaustion is to avoid excessive exposure to heat and to stay hydrated by drinking water and fluids that contain electrolytes, he recommended.
“Electrolyte imbalances are very dangerous, especially hyponatremia, which means loss of sodium,” Dr Shahid said.
Prevention measures can go a long way: If you know you'll be going out, make sure you hydrate before you leave the house, says Dr. Shahid.
