Ireland announces regional blockade due to increase in virus cases

On Friday, Ireland announced new localized blockade measures in three counties following an increase in coronavirus cases.
The counties of Kildare, Lois, and Offery to the west of Dublin will operate for at least two weeks under the new rules.
“There are some localized clusters that are a serious problem,” said Michael Martin.
“We can’t afford to wait.”
New rules include restricting people to the county, requiring them to work from home when possible, closing cinemas, museums, galleries, restaurants and pubs and serving meals ..
People are required to limit the number of visitors to their homes from midnight to 6 and limit outdoor gatherings to 15.
“As we move forward, we are aware that our response needs to be more subtle and sustainable,” Martin said.
226 virus cases have occurred in the three counties in the last 14 days, accounting for about half of all cases in Ireland during that period.
Tuesday’s Ireland further pushed the end of the country’s blockade with Martin’s announcement that “pubs, bars, hotel bars, nightclubs and casinos remain closed.”
He also announced that the current crowd limit of 200 outdoors and 50 indoors will remain, with face covers mandatory at the shop starting August 10.
