“At a time when emergency departments are overcrowded and family doctors are hard to find, this government is providing alternative access to care to ensure people across the state can receive care in a timely manner,” Minns said.
Health Minister Ryan Park said the health system was under huge pressure because of “high levels of respiratory virus circulation in the community.”
The report found that pneumonia rates among young children remain high, while respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) rates have declined or stabilized.
“COVID positivity rates have remained stable over the past six weeks. Influenza test positivity rates have increased over the past week. RSV test positivity rates have decreased over the past six weeks.” During the latest weekly reporting period, COVID-19 rates increased 2%, while RSV decreased 7%, the report said.

NSW Health is partnering with the Primary Health Network to provide additional urgent care services across the state and the government is committing $124 million over two years to deliver 25 clinics in NSW by mid-2025, with additional funding from the Federal Government.
The government also plans to spend more than $170 million to expand virtual care services, which are estimated to help avoid 180,000 emergency department visits each year.
