Tirzepatide outperforms semaglutide in weight loss effects

- For weight loss of at least 5%, 10%, and 15%, the hazard ratios comparing tirzepatide to semaglutide were 1.76 (95% CI, 1.68-1.84), 2.54 (2.37-2.73), and 3.24 (95% CI, 2.91-3.61), respectively.
- After adjusting for residual confounders, the absolute differences in weight loss with tirzepatide and semaglutide at 3, 6, and 12 months of treatment were −2.4% (95% CI, −2.5% to −2.2), −4.3% (−4.7% to −4.0%), and −6.9% (−7.9% to −5.8%), respectively.
- In both groups, weight loss was greater in people without type 2 diabetes than in people with type 2 diabetes, but tirzepatide was still associated with greater weight loss in all analyses.
