Recent studies have shown that making certain lifestyle changes may help prevent death from cancer.

Risk factors identified in the study include smoking, being overweight, alcohol consumption, consumption of red and processed meat, low fruit and vegetable intake, physical inactivity and human papillomavirus (HPV).

research result Smoking has been found to be the leading risk factor for cancer, causing about one-fifth of cancer cases and about one-third of cancer deaths.

Excess weight is the second leading cause of cancer cases, associated with approximately 5% of new cases in men and 11% of cases in women, followed by alcohol consumption (4.7% in men and 6.2% in women), dietary factors, exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and lack of physical activity.

The researchers analyzed 18 modifiable risk factors for 30 types of cancer using cancer data from 2019. In 2019, these lifestyle factors were associated with more than 700,000 new cancer cases and more than 260,000 deaths.

The research team concluded that the report suggests that leading a healthy lifestyle, including physical activity, can help reduce an individual's risk of cancer.
