World Hepatitis Day is observed every year on July 28th to raise awareness of hepatitis, including hepatitis A, B, C, D and E infections. The date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Baruch Bloomberg, the Nobel Prize-winning American physician who discovered hepatitis B infection (HBV) in the 1960s and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine.
In 2010, the date was changed from 19 May to 28 July. In 2008, the first community-led World Hepatitis Day was organised by the Global Hepatitis Alliance, which was established in 2007.
Hepatitis Day: Symptoms
Fatigue, bloating, dark urine, clay-colored stools, pain, inflammation, weight loss, jaundice, weight loss, weakness, and other conditions that depend on the individual's liver condition, individual health, age, and immune strength are common symptoms of long-term hepatitis.
Hepatitis B and C cause no symptoms in the early stages but can progress to liver failure and, in severe cases, death.
