Child is positive for West Nile virus in OC and marks the first human case in the county in 2020
Children in Orange County were diagnosed with the West Nile virus and were the first confirmed mosquito-borne infection in the county, health officials said Monday.
According to the Orange County Healthcare Agency, authorities have not disclosed other information about patients recovering after being hospitalized for the virus. The diagnosis was confirmed last week.
As of Friday, California reported 10 human cases of West Nile virus this year, according to the state’s Department of Public Health.
Last year, Orange County was confirmed to have infected seven humans, one of whom died, medical institutions said.
