Rwanda begins MPOX vaccination after receiving additional vaccine request from Africa

“We also need to ensure that this vaccine is produced in Africa and we are working closely with manufacturers and partners to ensure that these vaccines can be produced in African countries,” Kaseya said.
The WHO announced on Friday that it had first authorised the MPOX vaccine for use in adults, calling it an important step towards fighting the disease in Africa.
The approval of the Bavarian Nordic vaccine means it can be bought by donors such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and UNICEF, but with only one manufacturer, supplies are limited.
