Whitman County reports two cases of pertussis
Whitman County Public Health on Tuesday reported two cases of pertussis in the Washington State University student population. The cases at the university give the health department reason to believe there are more cases spreading in the area. Asotin County also reported a whooping cough infection in a Clarkston School District student on Sept. 13.
Whitman County Public Health Director Chris Skidmore said the disease began circulating in Washington this spring and has also been reported in Spokane and the Idaho Panhandle area.
