How to prevent and treat common summer rashes. American Dermatological Association
Rosemont, Illinois, August 11, 2020 (Grove Newswire)-As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout the country, many people spend time outdoors because of the landscape changes needed. You will notice that it is increasing. Gardening, hiking in the woods and swimming can provide peace of mind in socially separated steps. Dermatologists at the American Dermatological Association say that increased exposure to sunlight, insects, poisonous plants, etc. can cause an itchy, painful rash. Luckily, there are some simple steps people can take to avoid unwanted rashes and other skin problems while enjoying the outdoors.
“If this pandemic has any benefit, we can spend more time outdoors, which is great for our mental and physical health,” says Elizabeth, a FAAD-certified dermatologist. Kiracofe, MD says. “When spending time outdoors, especially during summer, it is important to take appropriate precautions to avoid sunburn, which increases the risk of skin cancer, as well as rashes such as rashes and poison ivy.”
Dr. Kiracophe recommends the following tips to prevent and treat common summer rashes and other skin problems.
- rash: If the sweat glands are clogged, a rash and small itchy bumps may appear on the skin. To help prevent hot weather, wear light and loose clothing made of cotton and plan outdoor activities in the coolest parts of the day. At home, use a fan and air conditioner to take a cool shower and keep your skin cool.
- Poisonous plant: Many people get a rash after contact with poisonous plants such as: Poison ivy, oak, smack And Wild parsnip.. To prevent rashes from these types of plants, learn how to recognize them and then avoid them. Wear clothes such as long sleeves, trousers, socks, and boots when spending time in the wooded areas or in areas known to contain toxic plants. If you come in contact with these plants, immediately wash your skin with warm, soapy water. Oil of poison ivy, oak, and smack can remain on objects for a long time, so wash away anything that may have come into contact with plants, such as clothing. If you have a rash, leave the blisters on and avoid scratching. Apply calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream to relieve symptoms. However, if the rash is widespread or is not relieved by these medications, contact a board-certified dermatologist.
- Sunburn: Sunburn is more preventative than cure. To prevent sunburn, seek shade and wear sunscreen clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat, and apply a wide-area water resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more to all uncovered skin. Reapply your sunscreen every two hours, or after swimming or sweating. If you get a tan, put a cold damp towel several times daily for 10-15 minutes daily, or take a bath or shower with cold water to relieve the pain. You can also apply a moisturizer or hydrocortisone cream. Avoid creams that contain oil, benzocaine, and lidocaine, which can cause skin irritation.
- Swimmer’s itching: If you have a rash on your skin after playing with water in the lake or the sea after swimming, you may have itching in your swimmer. The rash is caused by a parasite lurking on the skin in areas not covered by the swimsuit. If you develop this rash, do not return to water. To relieve itching, apply a corticosteroid cream or cold compress or soak in a colloidal oatmeal bath.
- Seabuster eruption: This itchy rash, also known as shiny, occurs in people who go to the waters off the Caribbean and Florida coasts and Long Island, New York. Occurs when newly hatched jellyfish or anemones are trapped between the skin and swimwear, fins or other gear. The best way to prevent this rash is to stay away from the invading water — it’s often found on nearby signs. However, if you think it is exposed, take off your swimsuit as soon as possible and rinse it with fresh water. To kill the larvae trapped in the dough, wash the swimsuit with boiling water and place it in a dryer. To relieve itching, apply a cold compress, soak in a colloidal oatmeal bath, or apply calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream. Taking antihistamines is also effective.
- Insect bites: Most insect bites are harmless, but some can spread dangerous diseases such as Zika virus, dengue fever, Lyme disease, and malaria. To prevent insect bites, use an insect repellent containing 20-30% diet, especially in areas with known insect-borne diseases, and replace long sandals with long-sleeved shirts, pants, socks, closed shoes, etc. Wear appropriate clothing. To treat painful bites such as bee stings, take over-the-counter painkillers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen. If you are bitten by an itch, apply an ice pack or a commercial anti-itch cream (such as hydrocortisone). To prevent swelling, apply an ice pack to the bite.
- Face mask stimulation: You don’t need to wear a face mask for solo activities like gardening, but if you’re spending time outdoors with others, keep a social distance and wear a face mask to prevent the spread of coronaviruses. It is important. However, wearing a face mask can cause skin problems such as acne and dryness if proper precautions are not taken. To avoid irritation from wearing a face mask, make sure the mask is snug but comfortable and made of breathable fabric such as cotton. Do not use synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester, or rayon, as they are highly irritating to the skin and can cause breakouts. Wash the mask after each use and skip make-up if possible. If you need to put on makeup, look for products that are labeled as “non-keratinizing” or “oil-free”. Also, please be gentle on your skin. Use an unscented, mild cleaner and moisturizer. Especially for dry or sensitive skin, limit washing to twice a day and after sweating, and apply moisturizer before and after wearing the mask.
“Most common summer rashes should disappear within days or weeks,” says Kiracofe. “However, if the rash or other skin problems persist or worsen, consult a board-certified dermatologist for the proper diagnosis and treatment. During a pandemic, a dermatologist’s office is available.” Has taken special state-specific precautions, developed guidelines to ensure the health and safety of patients, and often provides virtual consultation.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
