Dallas County Reports 30 COVID-19-Related Deaths, 298 New Cases of Coronavirus – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Dallas County officials reported an additional 298 cases of coronavirus in addition to 30 deaths associated with COVID-19 on Tuesday, the worst day since the pandemic began.

On Tuesday, it was the fourth time since July 22 that the county has reported more than 30 deaths associated with the virus. The Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services has reported 785 deaths in people who test positive for COVID-19.

The additional 30 deaths reported today include 29 confirmed deaths and 1 estimated death.

The additional 298 confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased the county county in Dallas to 55,553. According to the county, 15.9% of those who went to hospital with COVID-19 symptoms last week were virus-positive.

Of the cases requiring hospitalization, two-thirds of COVID-19 patients are younger than 65 years, and about half do not have a high-risk chronic health condition. Diabetes was the underlying high-risk health condition reported in about one-third of all patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

At a school in northern Texas preparing to open this month, DCHHS noted that more than 2,500 children under the age of 18 have tested positive for COVID-19 since 1 July.
