After 10 years, authorities release updated stroke prevention guidelines
American Stroke Association has issued new guidelines emphasizing regular screening for stroke risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and obesity.
New guidelines suggest that improving these screenings could significantly reduce the incidence of stroke. The American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association, says 80% of strokes are preventable.
