In severe cases, death may occur 8 to 9 days after symptoms appear due to severe blood loss and shock.

Marburg virus is spread through direct contact with an infected person's body fluids, contaminated surfaces, and materials such as bedding and clothing.
Initial human infection often occurs through exposure to fruit bats, the virus's natural host. Human-to-human transmission is a major concern during outbreaks.

What is the treatment?
