Prime Minister moves nationwide HIV testing week landmarks
Supporting the National HIV Test Week, prime minister Keir Starmer ir was the first service to quickly reveal the HIV home test to the British Prime Minister and G7 leaders.
The event, held at No. 10 Downing Street, aims to raise awareness about the availability of free and confidential HIV testing, which can be ordered online at www.freetesting.hiv.

“It's really important to do that. I'm happy I'm able to participate. It's easy, fast. And you can get the tests for free during the test week, so it's also great to join.
“If people test it, they'll know their status, it's better for people to know. That's good because you have access to treatment. It also means that it will be a new HIV by 2030. It also helps to achieve the collective goal to end the transmission.”

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to end new HIV cases in the UK by 2030. A new HIV action plan is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2025, and outlines strategies to increase testing, improve access to treatments and reduce transmission rates. Once diagnosed, individuals living with HIV have access to free and effective treatments that can extend their normal life expectancy and prevent virus transmission.
