Burke County added 26 COVID-19 positive cases in two days.

The Burke County Department of Health reported a total of 1,835 positive cases on Saturday, out of 1,823 positive cases on Friday and 1,809 positive cases on Thursday. Burke County had 1,774 positive cases of the virus and started that week.

On Saturday, the county’s COVID-19 dashboard reported that 1,488 (81.3%) of all cases recovered, while nine residents were hospitalized for the virus.

The county previously reported that 30 residents were killed in connection with the virus.

Three nursing homes in Burke County remain on the state’s list of collective living facilities with the outbreak of COVID-19.

Drexel’s fall care has one resident and five staff, tested to be virus positive.

Five people have died in the Carolina Rehabilitation of Burke, Icard, associated with COVID-19, and as of Friday 33 people and three staff have been diagnosed as virus positive.

In addition, a total of 13 people died of virus-related deaths at Grace Heights Health and Rehabilitation in Morganton, with 57 people and 33 staff testing positive.

The J. Iverson Development Center has nine staff on the list, but zero virus-positive residents.

The state reported a total of 2,343 deaths and a total of 143,706 positive cases on Saturday, an increase from 2,313 deaths and a total of 142,170 on Friday. It is also reported that there are currently 1,032 hospitalized people due to COVID-19.
