The shock as 200 new Covid-19 cases is the biggest increase every day since May
According to figures released yesterday evening, an additional 200 Covid-19 cases were reported in Ireland, with nearly half of the new cases occurring in Lockdown County.
This represents the largest daily increase in confirmed virus cases since the beginning of May.
No new deaths have been reported, according to statistics from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
In Kildare, there are 81 cases of the virus. There were six more in Lehr. Both of these counties, along with Offery, have been blocked for more than a week due to a virus outbreak.
O’Farry and Carlow, Claire, Cork, Donegal, Rous, Mayo, O’Farry, Roscommon, Waterford and Wicklow account for 20 new cases. There were 56 cases in Dublin.
This means that there have been 27,191 confirmed cases in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.
Dr. Ronan Grin, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, warned of self-satisfaction, saying these new cases were “deeply concerned.”
“We now have multiple clusters with a secondary spread of the disease and an increasing number of cases in many parts of the country,” he said.
“This is very concerned. The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) will monitor this very closely over the next few days.”

There were 13 new cases in Tipperary, 8 in Limerick, 6 in Galway, 5 in Kilkenny and 5 more in Mies. More than two-thirds of cases (68 pc) are found in people under the age of 45.
About one-third of new cases with outbreaks (68) are in close contact with confirmed cases. On the other hand, 25 are linked to community submissions.
This has come as a major measure to randomly test passengers at the airport, announced by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly two weeks ago, and a draft has been drafted but not implemented yet.
Random testing was one of the first big steps Donnelly announced to fight Covid-19. He announced the move on August 2, saying it was in response to global Covid “variability.”
HSE said this weekend that it “drafted an approach to airport testing.” However, HSE “has not yet been advised to start this test,” the statement said.
It is understood that random checks of passengers must be approved by the Cabinet.
Donnelly told RTÉ on August 2: “As the international situation becomes more and more volatile, we are considering other options for further restrictions on non-essential travel.”
