After 13 confirmed cases in New Brunswick, salmonellosis was declared outbreak, 2 cases under investigation-New Brunswick
New Brunswick Health Authorities Salmonella Outbreak in the state.
The decision is made after the state has identified 13 cases of bacterial disease between June 16 and July 27. Two potential cases remain under investigation.
The specific cause of the occurrence has not been identified.

“When you cook raw meat, you’re at particular risk of certain types of food poisoning, especially infections with the bacterium Salmonella,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of New Brunswick.
“It is highly recommended that safety precautions be taken when handling raw chicken and eggs to ensure that these and all raw meat products are fully cooked.”
Symptoms of Salmonella infection usually appear within a day or two after a person is infected with the bacteria.
Most people who get sick experience diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
Symptoms usually last less than a week, but some people may develop serious illness.
New Bruns Wickers is required to reduce the risk of food poisoning and exposure to Salmonella by cooking food thoroughly and properly cleaning it.
The state recommends using digital thermometers to determine when meat and poultry are safe to eat. Safe meals, cooked meats have the following internal temperatures:

The New Brunswick Health Department says eggs are safer when cooked thoroughly.
