Coupar Angus factory worker households ordered self-isolation until 31 August
Anyone sharing a household with a factory worker at a food processing plant in Coupar Angus was told to quarantine at home until Monday 31 August. NHS Tayside Said.
Prime Minister Nicolas sturgeon Described the 43 positive cases identified so far as “significant clusters” as part of an outbreak in two Sisters food processing plants.
Of these cases, 37 are factory workers and 6 are contacts.
New guidance, including children in these households and those who tested negative, was issued after a meeting of incident management teams working with stakeholders Scottish Government..
Dr. Emma Fletcher, Deputy Director of Public Health at NHS Tayside, said: “This is an important change tonight’s advice.
“We are introducing this additional measure to help prevent further spread of the infection in our communities.
“Also, everyone in the Tayside area, especially those over the age of 70, and those who use shields or belonged to high-risk groups, is especially alert to follow factual guidance.
“Most of our workforce is already undergoing good testing, but all workers who have not yet taken the test are strongly encouraged to take this offer, even if they have no symptoms.
“We continue to work closely with our factory and local colleagues to ensure that all workers have the proper information and support to access the tests.”
That’s because sturgeons once again warned of rising coronavirus clusters and new cases across the country.
During the latest coronavirus update in Holyrood, sturgeon said the cluster “is reflected in the fact that 27 of 77 cases today are in the Tayside region.”
Elsewhere in the Health Board area, eight adults from Kings Park School in Dundee tested positive and the city council temporarily closed the site.
Paul Clancy, director of the Dundee City Council, said: “The city council and the NHS Tayside continue to cooperate in a thorough investigation.
“All staff have access to the test. I will advise my family as soon as possible about when Kingspark will be back.
“Saving students and faculty is our top priority.”
Sturgeon also said that Scotland now averages 52 new Covid-19 cases per day, compared to just 14 at her last lockdown review three weeks ago. States.
Other clusters include schools in the Central Belt, with 16 cases in northeastern Glasgow, associated with Bannerman High School, and 9 cases in Courtbridge in a “separate but linked cluster”.
NHS Lanarkshire has previously stated that high school students at St Ambrose and St Andrews in Coatbridge were positive.
There were also 12 new cases at NHS Grampian on Wednesday, and the total number identified on the health board was 407 since July 26-237 of them associated with Aberdeen’s pub-linked cluster.
Despite these numbers, Sturgeon said progress has been made in Aberdeen and further reviews of the local blockade will occur this weekend.
She told the Scottish Parliament: “There is evidence that the original clusters of cases related to Aberdeen’s pub are under control, but more recently, we continue to see new cases that do not appear to be linked to the first cluster.
“So Aberdeen’s limits have been extended, but will be reviewed again on Sunday to set a solid schedule for lifting the limits, if possible.
“All of these occurrences have been addressed by our testing and protection team, and current evidence of their performance suggests that the majority of contacts are identified, and most of them are identified quickly. I am.
“But the cluster and the new case underscore the need for continued vigilance, especially as our priorities continue to keep the school open.”
“These clusters are not completely unexpected.
“We always knew that reopening more services and facilities, especially indoor bars, restaurants and cafes, could lead to an increase in incidents.
“And indeed, recent cluster reports highlight two key risk factors.
“As expected, indoor hospitality, bars and restaurants are one of them.
“The other is social events and gatherings at people’s homes.
“We’ve already tightened some rules related to the indoor hospitality department, for example, applying guidance to statutory grounds and requiring the collection of customer contact data.”
