EEE detected in Westerly. RI’s first discovery of the year
RI, West (WPRI)—Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) was first detected this year in Rhode Island, the RI Ministry of Health and Environment announced Friday.
Authorities said mosquitoes caught in the Chapman Wetlands in Westerly on August 11 tested positive. According to DEM, this species almost exclusively chews birds.

Protect yourself
