(New York)-The new coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 795,000 people worldwide.

Data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University Systems Science and Engineering Center diagnoses COVID-19 in more than 22.9 million people worldwide. The actual number is believed to be much higher due to lack of testing, many unreported cases, and some governments suspecting that they are hiding or neglecting the extent of the outbreak.

The United States is the most affected country in the world, with more than 5.6 million diagnosed and at least 175,409 dead.

8:51 am: 51 students quarantined after positive test at University of Miami

51 students were quarantined because four students at the University of Miami tested positive for COVID-19.

Students who tested positive at Hector Residential College were “taken away immediately” and placed elsewhere for quarantine.

Isolation of the other 51 students applies only to students residing on the 7th and 8th floors of the building.

“The University of Miami has taken unprecedented steps to reengineer the campus to secure physical distance and create a safe environment,” the school statement read. “A face cover is always required, except when the student is in a dorm room.”

8:22 am: 15 Minnesota COVID-19 infections associated with Sturgis

According to state health officials, at least 15 cases of the new Minnesota coronavirus are associated with a large annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. They believe that their number will increase.

“I think we can see more cases related to Sturgis. Thousands will be attending the event,” said Minnesota Infectious Diseases Director Chris Ehresman at a news conference on Friday. “It’s very likely that more infections will be seen.

“These cases are not the only ones we see,” Mr Ehresman said, as it takes time for people to develop symptoms, undergo tests, and authorities get those results.

In Sturgis, one of the fifteen Minnesotas diagnosed with COVID-19, currently one, is hospitalized.

In all cases, authorities said that 15 of them were at multiple bars and campsites in Sturgis. Everyone who went to Sturgis was advised to self-isolate for 14 days after returning home.

According to ABC News affiliate KOTA, the city of Sturgis began testing all city employees and their first responders on Friday.

6:10am: 32 COVID-19 cases, one death associated with the main wedding

According to local health officials, at least 32 cases of positive coronaviruses and now women’s deaths are associated with the August 7 wedding reception at the Big Moose Inn in Millinocket, ME.

The woman died 14 days after the incident on Friday.

Millinocket Regional Hospital reported testing 366 people associated with the wedding reception. The hospital is still waiting for 103 of those tests, which it said in a Friday statement.

“All positive patients are instructed to receive direct care and direct quarantine,” said Robert Peterson, CEO of Millinocket Regional Hospital, in a statement. “The CDC has begun contact follow-up on all positive patients to confirm the full extent of the outbreak.”

Because of the outbreak, the healthcare facility said it had no visit policy and limited its services to essential medical care until August 30th.

The Maine Centers for Disease Control said 65 people were present at the reception, and all cases confirmed as of August 17 were associated with residents of Maine.

The Governor of Maine, Janet T. Mills, states that the state has 50 indoor capacity and 100 outdoor capacity. The state says it is in contact with the event space for compliance with these requirements in terms of occurrence.

Maine is one of the least affected states in the United States, with only 4,286 cases and 129 confirmed deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
