SA nurse working at frontline of Victoria’s Elderly Care Coronavirus Crisis tests positive for COVID-19

A South Australian nurse working at the forefront of Victoria’s coronavirus crisis was diagnosed with COVID-19 after returning to Adelaide.

Middle-aged women worked to support an outbreak in a Victorian nursing home.

Nicola Spurrier, SA’s chief public health officer, said the woman had no symptoms.

“This is because even though our very experienced nursing staff wear all of PPE, [personal protective equipment] It was required to be a highly infectious virus.”

The eight nurses who returned to Adelaide with her were considered “close contacts,” she said.

However, Dr. Suprie said each of them always wore a mask and PPE, including the flight back to Adelaide, and was quarantined at one of the Medi Hotels in the city.

Currently, there are three known active cases in South Australia.

Queensland travelers urged to take test

SA Health advises anyone traveling from Queensland to be particularly vigilant for the coronavirus, given the open boundaries between the two states.

“It’s a very complex and evolving situation.

“Take a test if you have been to the Greater Brisbane or Ipswich area.”

Dr. Spurrier said SA Health is considering introducing quarantine measures for travelers from Queensland.

She urged all senior or disability care professionals returning from Queensland to Adelaide to be self-isolated for 14 days and undergo a negative test before working at SA.

Queensland health officials today published an extensive list of places visited by youth detention centers in western Brisbane that tested positive for COVID-19.

SA’s Prime Minister Stephen Marshall recently visited Queensland, but a government spokesman said he hadn’t visited any of the places on the list, and tested negative for COVID-19 when he returned to Adelaide.
