A member of staff and two students are isolated at home, but the school remains open
Members of the staff and two students tested positive for Covid-19 at an elementary school in South Lanarkshire.
All three at High Blantyre Elementary School are isolated at home. They were at their last school on August 20th.
NHS Lanarkshire said there was no evidence of transmission within the school.
Students and staff associated with the three classes were required to be self-isolated, but the school remained open.
The affected classes are:
- Correspondence class, 5 rooms
- P3, 6 rooms
- Room P4, 10
NHS Lanarkshire said staff and children’s parents in supported classes were contacted directly by the testing and protection team to provide advice on testing and self-separation.
P3 and P4 students and staff are required to stay out of school. They were offered a test on Wednesday and were asked to quarantine themselves until they received confirmation of a negative result.
Dr. Josephine Pravin Kumar, Public Health Medical Consultant at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Our test and protect team keeps in touch with everyone who may be affected. These individuals are given public health advice, they are asked to be self-isolated and are offered Test if necessary.
“There is evidence that social mixing in communities without maintaining physical distances can cause the virus to infect. Therefore, it is important that people remain vigilant and follow physical distance guidance. is.”
Dr Pravin Kumar said he would like to reassure the community that “adequate measures” have been implemented.
