Four new cases of coronavirus reported in Waterloo area, totaling 1,441 cases-Kitchener
Waterloo Public Health reported four new positive tests for coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the area to 1,441.
The agency does not update that number on weekends, so Monday’s numbers are a three-day count.
There have been 13 new cases in the last 7 days, reducing the rolling 7-day average to below 2.
No new deaths were reported on Monday, but on Friday Waterloo Public Health announced the first new deaths in the region since July 17.
The agency said a man in his 70s who was a resident of the Golden Years Nursing and Retirement Center in Cambridge died.
Residents of nursing homes in the area have died for the first time since June.
The Waterloo Public Health Department says the house remains outbreak, but no other staff or residents have tested positive as part of the current outbreak.
Two more were cleared of the virus in the Waterloo area, bringing the total number of cases resolved to 1,281.
There are currently 40 COVID-19s in the area, including two hospitalized.
Ontario reported 105 new cases of the new coronavirus on Monday, bringing the state to 41,507.
On Monday, the number of cases fell slightly from Sunday, with 115 new cases.
The number of deaths in the state increased to 2,798, with one new death reported.
