When I died of cancer at the age of 12, my heart ached.
Putting a child on cancer is a pain that parents can’t express in terms they never wanted to experience.
But, tragically, for Julie Parton, this is her second face-just a few weeks after the death of her son Ben.

This 12-year-old from staff Cannock was diagnosed with an aggressive type of glioblastoma last March.
He received 30 radiation and 2 cycles of chemotherapy, but sadly died in December 2019, only eight months later.
As the family came to terms with their losses, Ben’s twin brother Jack began to experience back pain and illness.
His symptoms initially led to post-traumatic stress disorder after his brother died. But about two weeks after Ben rested, Jack was diagnosed with leukemia.
Double blow
Julie (51) said: “It is almost impossible to say how horrible this is.
“It was Hammer Blow to do everything with Ben and find out that Jack was also fighting cancer just two weeks after his funeral, just as we were grieving for his loss. ..
“It seems wrong to say this, but I was relieved to discover that Jack had leukemia instead of a brain tumor.
“It’s a bit of comfort to be able to dare to feel more hopeful with Jack.

“I’m careful and horrifying not to seek his prognosis, but I know leukemia is no longer a death sentence.
“Jack and other leukemia patients now have hope for a cure, thanks to their investment in research.
“Ben wasn’t so lucky, he never really had a chance.”
Just two weeks after his funeral, it was Hammerblow to learn that Jack was also fighting cancer, just as we were sad of his loss.

She added. “My identical twins were always very similar and similar in many ways, but different in other ways.
“Ben was more confident and sociable than usual, and Jack relied on him to lead.
“If Ben was doing something or going somewhere, Jack felt safe and secure to follow.
“It was one of the hardest things to put up with.

“No one should lose a child at the age of 12, and who can imagine the pain of a child of that age who has lost twins?”
Since his diagnosis in January this year, 12-year-old Jack is being treated at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where Ben was also treated.
And following this bone marrow aspiration this summer, the family received the best news they could expect-Jack is currently cancer free.
However, the youth will continue to receive chemotherapy for the next two and a half years to prevent the disease from recurring.
Tough times
Julie said: “Some days are incredibly tough, but everything Jack has considered is working.
“He misses Ben so much and I’m sure he’ll give something because they’re together on the Playstation.”
Julie is currently conducting a charity brain tumor research campaign.
She urges people to sign a petition to increase state investment in brain tumor research to £35 million per year.
