The county “thinks” about reopening if the school maintains a reopening rate
Authorities say the spread of the community still needs to decrease

At a news conference this week, the Los Angeles County Director of Public Health said if the current prevalence of COVID-19 was high, officials said, “Thinking about schools, more companies will reopen.”
“The work we all have done as communities and the sacrifices we do are working. If we can sustain this low transmission rate, schools, more businesses will be able to restart, or someday bring their businesses back indoors. You will be able to think about that,” said Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, at a press conference on Monday.
According to public health, daily hospitalization dropped 45 percent from its peak of 2,200 in mid-July. There are 1,219 confirmed cases currently hospitalized, with 32% of these people enrolled in the ICU.
“The decrease in daily hospitalization is one of the best indicators, as it accurately represents the number of people currently seriously ill with the virus,” the county said in a press release.
As of Monday, the Public Health Service identified 232,893 COVID-19 positive cases in all areas of LA County, resulting in a total of 5,558 deaths. In Venice, there were 261 cases and 3 deaths.
In mid-July, the seven-day average of those who died from COVID-19 averaged 44 deaths per day. The average death toll on August 16 was an average of 28 per day. From mid-July to late July, the number of new cases reported per day was approximately 3,200. As of August 22, 7 days average is 1,400 new cases reported daily.
Test results were available to more than 2,195,000 people, with 10% of all being positive.
